Lugano Dance Project is a biennial festival founded in 2021 to support choreographic production by commissioning established talents on the international contemporary scene to create new works exploring a key theme, inspired by the area where the event takes place.
After the first festival investigated the relationship between art, body, and movement – in dialogue with the history of the Monte Verità community – and the second explored the connections between the human body and the architectural body, the third festival will now be dedicated to the theme of "dance and heritage".
Lugano Dance Project was created as an international platform aimed at audiences, curators, and artists, in which choreographic knowledge is passed on through shared practices, the exchange of perspectives, and co-creation processes.
The festival offers special opportunities for discussions and debates, fostering dialogue between artists, experts, and scholars from different fields on the role of dance, art, and culture in our time.
